COFFEEHAGEN

This is a perspective view of Nyhavn canal, Copenhagen, using three tones of coffee to develop a sense of depth. Varying concentrations of coffee creates the shades as following: the light shade background of the sky, medium tone middle ground comprising the buildings and the busy street near the canal, and a dark foreground including the river and the boats. Coffee was an apt medium for depicting what the painting is about – beginning of the day.
